A Road of Adversity with Fred Meyling

January 17, 2017
While adversity happens to all of us, how each of us responds tells a unique story about who we are. Fred Meyling is no stranger to adversity. In fact, he served in the United States Army and after receiving an honorable discharge he then returned home. But in addition to being honorably discharged, in June of 1976, he fell from a roof and broke his back which caused a severe Spinal Cord Injury (SCI). The recovery for this type of injury is intense and changed his life as well as required a full relocation from Pennsylvania to California. After moving his wife and three daughters, he recovered from this injury and shortly after that reinjured himself, this time permanently. While these series of difficult events may change many people, Fred Meyling stuck to who he was throughout the difficult journey of recovery.
